Spotlight on Mumpreneurs – Froso Luca

We have many working mothers in our MiC community, whether as employees in companies or self-employed and running their own business.
All have one thing in common: trying to achieve a harmonious work/life balance under sometimes very stressful circumstances.
Being your own boss however, has the added pressure of financial responsibility – when there’s no monthly income guarantee the daily challenges seem greater. On the other hand it is endlessly rewarding to be fulfilling your dreams and ambitions, and these mumpreneurs often are an inspiration to others.

Our new weekly interview blog puts the spotlight on these entrepreneurial women among us: who are they, what do they do and how do they do it.

Today, it is my pleasure to introduce Froso Luca (MiC nickname ‘Fitma Fros’), owner of Limassol based ‘CONfitENT Personal Training & Nutrition’. Froso provides an education in fitness, nutrition and overall health.

Hi Froso. How and when did you come up with the idea for your business and what inspired you to become self employed?
Hey there and thankyou for taking the time to interview me.  I am very honoured to be part of Mumpreneurs.  I have been a fitness professional (personal trainer)  for 6 years.  After completing my course, one of my modules included Business, I knew straight away I wanted to start my own personal training business.   Being an International Figure/Body-Fitness athlete has inspired me to do personal training as a career as when you associate your passion with your work, you never have to work another day in your life.  I dont enjoy people telling me what to do so thats why I decided that self employment was  the way to go.

What business achievement are you most proud of?
I’ve been a permanent resident of Limassol since 1st of June, 2010.  I am proud to have started CONfitENT as a business here in Limassol and one of my USP (Unique Selling Point) is that I guarantee results.  One of my clients achieved the Body Fat goal she set.  Its a very proud moment when what you see the client happy and the services your business sells really works.

A lot of new start-up businesses run out of steam when the going gets tough. Was there ever a time when you doubted yourself?

Never.  Im such a dynamic, self motivated, go get it person that if something stands in my way, Ill find a way to get around it.  When theres a will theres a way.

Being your own boss means there are no mentors to learn from. Who do you go to for business advice?
I read plenty of books and research on the net.

What have you learned about yourself since becoming self employed?
I have learnt that I have a very strong-willed character &  I love what I do.

Do you feel you have achieved a good work/life balance?

🙂 Being a single mother of twins, working part-time at the gym, being an athlete and having 2 seasons per year, having my own personal training business and in the process of building my own website is hard work.  It’s not easy and I try to have a good balance or else I would go crazy.  Ok, theres never enough hours in the day. I wake up pretty early and I go to bed pretty late.  I live a life of knowing what the day holds for me the day before.  When you have a plan its pretty hard to be out of balance.

If you could give one piece of advice to an aspiring ‘Mumpreneur’ starting out today, what would it be?

Do something that you love so you’re a happy working mother and write it all down.

What are your future plans for your business?
I’m in the process of building now & hopefully within the next 2 years I have opened the 1st CONfitENT Personal training studio in Limassol.

Thank you very much for your time. Best wishes for continued success and happiness, both in your professional and private life.
